Writing as an art form

Written Arabic is more than simply connecting individual letters as we know it from written European languages. Rather it is an art form in and of itself. Schooled calligraphists elevate every word and sentence to a little work of art. This optically transmitts the content of the written word.

During our courses Mohamed Abdel Aziz will introduce you to the most widely spread form of written Arabic: the Naskh. In five double lessons you will learn how to write the alphabet and by the end of the course you will be capable of painting and drawing words and names.

The course consists of five double lessons and takes place on a weekend in the Diwan class rooms on Badenerstrasse 109 in Zürich.
Five double lessons of 80 minutes each amount to 230 Fr. per person, not including learning materials. The costs for the learning materials are 40 Fr. (1 textbook + 1 feather for Arabic calligraphy) payable on the Course day.
